Welcome to the 'World of Transport Books!'
This website was set up in July 2021 to bring detailed information and front cover images together for the benefit of transport book collectors worldwide as a single source of reference. The emphasis is primarily on complete series rather than individual volumes covering Transport subjects but also other mainly vintage collections that include a strong transport component. The period covered is 1900 to the present day. I hope you find something of interest here and can enjoy sharing my love of transport book collecting!
The long-term goal of this website is to make it the largest resource available on the web for people interested in collecting Transport Books. Each entry will include a front cover image and full publishing details, including ISBN number where known. The content will be based primarily on full sets from the Webmaster's own collection, so inevitably there will be some gaps such as Amberley Publishing, Crecy Publishing and D. Bradford Barton. However, with the most comprehensive Ian Allan section available anywhere and with many series still to be added, it will ultimately become the biggest single source of reference on the internet.
'Andrew Transport Historian' is employed by a UK Bus Company, working as a Commercial Operations Administrator. He has a history of roles in the Transport Industry including Freight Forwarding, Cabin Crew (for Astraeus Airlines) and operating his own Airport Taxi business. In the early 2000s he gained his Private Pilot's Licence and has flown the Cessna 152, Piper Cherokee, Diamond DA40 & DA42. Andy has been an avid Transport Enthusiast/Spotter all his life and has accumulated a vast collection of transport and transport-related books. These include complete unmarked collections of JP Airline Fleets, Ian Allan Civil Aircraft Markings, Railway ABC Combined Volumes (bar one) and Capital Transport and BBP Bus Handbooks. Reference collections include complete sets of Putnam's Aeronautical series and Talbot Booth's 'Merchant Ships.'
